Have you noticed that you feel as if you have lost yourself to your own emotional reactions? Are you overworking yourself and just can't seem to get a break, where your life is hectic and not manageable? When you wake up in the morning, do you notice that you are hit immediately with feeling overwhelmed, helpless, or even hopeless? And when you think about yourself are you overcome with shame that you just can't “get over it” or “fix your problems”? And even though it is natural to have a shame response to these life experiences, the experiences themselves are rarely helpful and often harmful to live within. The good news is that we can overcome those shame responses to get you back to living a life full of meaning and purpose.
Many clients come in need of my services when they have felt overwhelmed with anxiety and stress, fatigue, low moods, and physical aches/ailments. Even after the first session with clients, most experience a wave of relief that they have found someone that was a good fit for them; where they feel like they have been heard and understood. But not only that, they also have a secure understanding of how they can see light within themselves through the knowledge of what the next steps are to finally getting to that better life they have always dreamed of living.
Many conversations with clients include educational segments, backed by years of research, but handed to you in very tangible ways. If you are looking for analytical and intelligent conversations regarding your emotional experiences, with an understanding as to why you are experiencing life the way that you are right now, then look no further. Through a neurobiological understanding, stress, anxiety, low moods, body aches, and so much more can be easily understood without having to have a shame response to having your emotional reactions. Very soon after starting, you will be able to have a framework to understand yourself without the shame that you may be stuck within, and have a tangible way of finding yourself with more confidence and a sense of direction within your life. The very goal of therapy is to find and empower “you”, and this is very doable with the experience of therapy at Compassion Clinic: Therapy Services.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I accept Insurance?
I currently accept Aetna, Optum, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Health Partners Insurance. There is also another way for you to see if you are able to get some of the cost of therapy reimbursed to you by your insurance company if you have those specific benefits. If you are worried that my services are not covered by insurance I would recommend to check by calling the number on your insurance card and ask the following questions:
-Do I have out of network benefits and if so, do these cover outpatient mental health services. If they ask for specific codes, you can try 90791 and 90834.
-Do I have a limit on how many sessions you will reimburse me for each year?
-Is prior authorization required in order for me to get reimbursed?
-What is my out of network deductible and has it been met?
If you do have these benefits, then I will provide you with what insurance calls a “superbill” which you can then use as evidence that you have had and paid for a session.

I am now in the process of accepting some insurance organizations, currently Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN, Aetna, Health Partners and Optum. I have found that I can have a bigger impact on the communities that are searching for me if I am able to offer to bill their insurance.
There are a couple of reasons why I did not accept most insurance. First, because when you work with an insurance company, or other third party payer, you as the client are often held hostage by the payer. The third party payer will ultimately determine what services they will pay for and for how long services last. This can limit the efficacy of your services. Secondly, when using an insurance company, your private records are not very private any longer. Although everyone must adhere to HIPAA privacy standards and receive the client’s approval first, you’ll still need to share a lot of information with the payer (the insurance company, in this case). Information you’ll share includes presenting problem, treatment plan, and prognosis and I don't want that information to get back to your insurance company. Lastly, an insurance company will only pay for what they deem as "clinically necessary" services, and not pay for preventative nor quality of life services. By not using them as a payer, we are allowed for so much more room for your personal growth and transformation. Therefore, I still recommend private pay options even if you're wanting to use insurance.
How do I pay my bill/What is the cost for sessions?
-
Great question! Sessions are billed at time of service. However! We can work together to make a payment plan together to help manage the larger up front cost of services. Most sessions will be billed for the 38-52 minute session rate which will be at most $200.00 and at least $125.00. I have a sliding scale fee schedule on the "resources" tab of this website for you to reference.
-
However, if you do not need to use the full 45 minutes, or we run over the 52 minutes, I can bill you for less or more depending on the needs of the session. I bill insurance the day of the appointment and it can take insurance up to three months (Usually within a couple of weeks) to let me know how much they will cover for the services (this is every provider).
How frequent will we meet for sessions?
At first, I usually have people meet for weekly sessions to build the therapeutic relationship. After that is built and depending on your specific needs determined, we can move to bi-monthly, monthly, or even more sparse towards an as needed basis.
What should I expect when starting services?
After you’ve contacted me for your free consultation, we will set up an appointment for your first session. In the meantime, I will need you to sign a couple of documents before that session through an email I will give you. During the first couple of sessions, expect diagnostic questions so we can work together to create a plan of personalized services for you, then afterwards, we are on normal sessions! Sessions usually consist of you bringing in distressing moments, me joining with you with those emotional reactions and helping you apply my knowledge on the psychology field to your life and specific situations so that you can meet your goals.
What if I can't make it to my appointment?
I do my best to be understandable without giving too much of myself to my clients. Therefore, if you cannot make it due to an emergency situation, then I won’t charge you for the session. If you happen to be late for a similar reason, I will charge for a lesser amount for the session. Otherwise, a full session fee will be applied to your account and charged at time of missing the appointment.
